After teaching my strength class at the Milano Senior Center in Melrose today, I was driving home when I noticed an older woman sitting alone on the curb. It didn’t feel right—especially in this dangerous heat. I turned around, flagged down a nearby police cruiser, and let the officer know I was an EMT-B and concerned.

…was diabetic and showing signs of heat exhaustion—diaphoresis, weakness, nausea. Thankfully, she was conscious and responsive. First responders arrived quickly and took over care.
