#FediAlgo (the customizable timeline algorithm / filtering system for your Mastodon feed) v1.2.2 is deployed now. Has a switch that makes sure any #hashtags / users / etc. that you follow are displayed as filter options even if they don't meet the minimum number of recent toots threshold.

everyone calm down, the enormous #NPM supply chain attack of the incredibly popular (27,000 #github stars) #nx #AI build tool thingamajig is probably aimed solely at crypto bros. if you don't have any crypto you (hopefully) don't have anything to worry about.

my fact free, completely unsupported by evidence hunch is that we will find this came from #NorthKorea (because if it's a well orchestrated attempt to steal a bunch of crypto it's pretty much always north korea).

Far less of a challenge if your page doesn't require 50-odd http requests, 30 megabytes of images, numerous database lookups, with no caching.

@neil there is so much cargo-culting in tech.

A decade ago using a CDN had the real benefit that some common scripts or resources (say, jQuery or Font Awesome) would get cached by the browser once and re-used for all sites embedding them from the same CDN.

This, of course, turned out to be a privacy issue, so for *years* now browser cache has been separate for each website.

But people still insist this works! Because they read some howto from 2010, or "asked" an LLM trained on it. 🤦‍♀️

Native JS templating: helps JavaScript developers. Direct WASM→DOM: helps EVERY language. Rust, Go, C#, Zig, Swift, Kotlin... all get first-class web UI performance. That's real platform evolution. We shouldn't be adding more JS-specific APIs when we could be opening the web to all languages equally. The web platform should be language-agnostic at its core. #compsci #webdev #webassembly #programming
