my fact free, completely unsupported by evidence hunch is that we will find this came from #NorthKorea (because if it's a well orchestrated attempt to steal a bunch of crypto it's pretty much always north korea).

@zkat U could create a system 2 make it easier 4 creators 2 accept #Monero (XMR) a truly private cryptocurrency, #bitcoin & #ethereum r talked about by the media as if theyre private but theyre actually pseudonymous, if u have the persons address u have their entire transaction history, but not with monero. Using it there would be no higher authority (except the state) that could enforce regulations on ur sales, & even then it would have to b serious surveillance bc the network itself is opaque

I don't necessarily disagree, but I feel that this long argument deliberately omits to mention the context which motivated this decision.
Has the #Bitcoin network been experiencing a flood of transactions which (ab)use the blockchain as an immutable storage system for messages and data?
And if so, why wouldn't they rather do it with #Ethereum, which has lower per-byte fees and also lets them run small programs?
