The Nitter site (https://nitter.net/) displaying a message stating that their service has been suspended upon receipt of a cease and desist order from Twitter/X. Nitter is an open source alternative web frontend to Twitter/X that allows you to read tweets without logging on to the main site. Twitter/X removed the ability to read it without logging in, a while ago. Many government and other public service agencies still use Twitter to publish their announcements. This forces the users to maintain an account on the site. A lot of people choose not to do so for ideological, privacy or practical reasons.
