It's absurd that someone buying a new Mac to use as a software development machine is concerned that 24 GB of RAM won't be enough. I guess the concern is rational considering that current Apple machines can't practically be upgraded after purchase. But still, 8 GB should be plenty, never mind 24.

@burly Yeah, fair read. “Winning path” was a bad phrase. I meant path of least resistance: if the easiest thing is always to write Node.js-compatible code, there's not much reason for a Deno-native package culture to form. Nobody loses; it just never gets built.

Always makes me so sad that there's just buttloads of money being dumped into AI data centers so people can make awful slop no one wants, but the science computing infrastructure is held together with hope, duct tape, and someone's leftover grant money from 5 years ago.

I really think there’s something to this. Being openly, brazenly corrupt has probably worked in Trump’s favor with some media & voters because they assume something truly scandalous has to be exposed, not broadcast.
