I'm looking forward to Australia's (hopefully) upcoming orphan works scheme, so that I can legally (I think) upload letters like this one written by E.J. Ryan in 1898. They'll (likely) still not be acceptable by #WikimediaCommons (which wants 190 years of grace after the date of creation), but at least they can go elsewhere without worry. Maybe. I'm not a lawyer.
Although if Mr Ryan's estate wants to come after me for uploading it, that'd be quite good really, because I'd like them to have the letter. #genealogy
