Q2: What skill are you in awe of & consider your personal ‘creative’ skills gap?

A2 ooh a tough one. I'd probably have to say knitting, and CAD. I can do both, but I am very much at the bottom of the learning cliff on each.

@algernon Any idea what’s going on here? I can’t update my Iocaine flake input, otherwise system rebuild complains
@dpk FWIW, I haven't forgotten bout this, but didn't have time to investigate yet. It's near the top of my todo list, I'm trying to get around to it ASAP.

Everyone of my generation loved The Beatles, The Who, and the Rolling Stones. Unlike many people in the States, however, I loved the Kinks just as much. This song, from 1980 or so, is a long way from their 60s, but oh, how they rock it. Enjoy.

@algernon hello !
So I've setup iocaine, it seems to be filtering traffic fine but my peertube is... broken on some parts, can't find out why, I think it could be related to the use of error page
a token isn't transmitted anymore
do you think there are other ways than relying on error_page for nginx config ?
edit: just saw this https://nginx.org/en/docs/http/ngx_http_auth_request_module.html
could be useful
@PhieLaidMignon I don't think there's any other way than via error_page currently1. Can you share your nginx config with me? And/or peertube paths that don't seem to work? Those would help me narrowing down where the problem might be.
I'm working on an nginx module, but that's a 2027 thing, most likely. ↩︎

Capital poisoning?
Well that was exciting. I just got pulled over by four SFPD cars. They cuffed me and had me stand there for ten minutes.
Their story was they got a report of an attempted robbery by a guy on a green bike, with a beard and sandals, in the same general area. If they weren't just making shit up, that is quite a coincidence!
Anyway, I'm fine. Keep an eye out for that other guy on a green bike, I want to have a little chat with him.
@jef WTF
Captured with a small full-frame camera and 21mm lens. A three second exposure smoothed waves and surf.
This was an exercise in tone, perspective, and convergence. The four major boundaries of the scene converge (approximately) near the center of the frame, forming a flattened X.
I moved around and composed this both with and without the driftwood in foreground, which interrupts the composition but, I decided, is helpful to anchor the frame.
Incidentally. the metadata for this image claims it was captured at f/16. That's wrong; it was more like f/2.5 or so. This was an artifact of the too-clever-by-half way Leica M cameras estimate the f stop. There's no mechanical link between the aperture ring and the camera, so instead they estimate the f-stop with a separate light sensor that's compared with the brightness of the recorded image. This works reasonably well, except when you use an ND filter (as here), which confuses it to no end.
Many autistic adults shudder at school memories.
Why do so many autistic people suffer at school?
For too long, school was seen as beyond criticism, and the child blamed instead of the environment.
That’s starting to change.
A thread 🧵
1/10
An autism diagnosis often seems to hinge on two things:
1. is the person annoying anyone?
2. are they struggling enough?
Often it’s more #1 for children, and more #2 for adults.
