@MakersHour#MakersHour A5: For this one I'm gonna get into my third consistent crafting medium: Minecraft. I've been enjoying watching Joe Hills build scale models at a wild range of scales, and I want to try some of that, but I'm not sure whether I'm most inspired by his giant pinball machine, or his mini museum display of the Arecibo radio telescope (with tiny armor-stand people for scale!).

I think that is a very good way to look at it.

We often forget that sometimes the smallest thing that made someone happy, even for a moment, can stay with them for a long time.

It is a thing that should happen more often, and it will become accumulative.

@makershour@a.gup.pe Q3: Do you believe that your creative work can make a difference in the world or in your world? If so, how?

A3: YES! It makes a difference in my world. Having a project, whether it’s making, repairing, restoring, tinkering or any of the other bits I do is my sanctuary. It’s my happy place where I can zone out the world around me and 🎶forget about your worries and your strife 🎶.

It’s so good for my Mental Health.

@MakersHour#MakersHour A3: I believe in small changes adding up to big changes. Even if all my work does is briefly brighten someone's day, that's a little bit of happiness that didn't exist before, and that's especially worthwhile in a world where the people in charge profit from everyone else's misery.
@MakersHour#MakersHour A2: Depends on the craft. I'm very private about my writing, and don't like showing off partial drafts because I'm afraid of rejection.

On the other hand, I learned to knit in an online community where sharing unfinished projects and appreciating/encouraging other people's work was normal and expected, so I'm better about it there.

@MakersHour @Andy#MakersHour A1: I think it's impossible to do creative work without infusing it with your personality.

I do it most deliberately in my writing, focusing on themes of resilient queer community and the sort of rugged, relentless optimism that quietly dares the world to stop it.

In my knitting, I mostly just make things I like. Bright colors, mathematically interesting patterns, practical pieces that look good on me.

Q1: Hello, I am @Andy, and I’m your question setter for this week.
How do you incorporate your personality into your making process.

Q2: How do you feel about sharing your unfinished work with others? Do you ask for feedback, or do you prefer to show your final result?

Q3: Do you believe that your creative work can make a difference in the world or in your world? If so, how?

Q4: What’s the most ridiculous idea you’ve had for a project, but just didn’t have the time or resources to make it happen? Or did it happen?!

Q5: If you could make a giant version of something small or a small version of something giant, what would it be and why?
