“And I am at a point now where it really is hurting my feelings because I’m sick and tired of people saying, ‘Oh, wait until those midterms.’ Kids, we’re far downstream from the midterms having any effect on this.”

A handy reminder of how voting actually works in Scotland for the May elections.
I will be SNP 1 Greens 2 in the hope that my tiny contribution will help an independence majority in Holyrood, as well as appreciation (partial) for some of the policies of both parties.
U.S. CITIZENS ABROAD & CITIZENS IN THE US:
Please contact your state Senators like I just did and tell them NOT TO PASS the SAVE Act (H.R. 22).
IT ALREADY PASSED THE HOUSE!
This is clearly voter suppression.
If it passes the Senate, U.S. citizens may have to show not just a driver’s license, but ADDITIONAL proof of citizenship to vote (including a certified U.S. birth certificate, or a current U.S. Passport, or a Consular Report of Birth Abroad or a Report of Birth of a U.S. citizen issued by the Secretary of State, or a Naturalization Certificate or Certificate of Citizenship issued by the Secretary of Homeland Security).
Imagine what kind of chaos that would cause on Election Day in districts where polling stations are few, with voting officials, or even ICE holding up the line, causing a scene, checking your papers before you can get a ballot, telling you there’s something wrong with your documents, delaying the voting process so others don’t get a chance. Know that this is part of the plan.
If you’re married, an adoptee or someone who changed your name, I genuinely hope your current name is the same on all those documents. If it’s not, this bill will mess things up for you.
For those of us overseas, if the SAVE Act passes the Senate, depending on the laws of our home states, we could lose our right to vote in our home state elections! (Some states require proof of active residency. Should you qualify to vote as a U.S. citizen but not as a resident of your state, the proposal is for your vote to be counted under the District of Columbia (D.C.). Are you from D.C.? Are you a resident of D.C.? If not and you still have ties to your home community, let your Senators know A.S.A.P.!)

Big Tech is getting more and more involved in politics. During the last US election, Crypto bros spent more than $100 million on the election, which got some of them out of jail. Now Big Tech is active again, this time with focus on AI, as reported in this Washington Post article.
It is time to take a stand against companies that behave this way.

Non-voters: "I cannot vote for a candidate I don't support. If you offer me two sandwiches, one filled entirely with shit and the other with no more than 50% shit, I am going to choose neither"
Fair point. But this isn't a lunch buffet. It's an election. Unless you emigrate, you're going to be living with the outcome of that election. You are definitely eating one of those sandwiches. A decision will be reached, and opting out of voting doesn't rescue you from the consequences of everybody else's choice. So unless you genuinely don't care whether you and everybody else will be eating the 50% or 100% sandwich, you should probably get involved.
