A fresh CIA review agreed with earlier conclusions that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to help President Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton — while criticizing what it called procedural flaws. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2025/07/03/world/politics/trump-cia-2016-assessment-putin/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #worldnews #politics #johnratcliffe #cia #us #donaldtrump #republicans #vladimirputin

"Trump’s #CIA backs 2016 assessment that #Putin wanted him to win
The latest findings put Ratcliffe in a bind with #Trump.. & the 8-page CIA note, dated June 26, waits until te bottom of te 7th page to mention tt te original report’s findings were sound — & then only under a section titled "Lessons Learned.” #Russian #government directed a broad #hacking operation to interfere in te #elections & undermine confidence in US democracy, b4 morphing into a campaign to damage #Clinton"

The same #liberals who either can't win #elections, or can never be bothered to accomplish anything meaningful when they do win, want you to think that #socialism is a "failure" & "doesn't work".

The only failure is #neoliberalism. It's dead. Either accept a #socialist future or a fascist one.

#UK public’s trust in our #politics has collapsed

Only 1 in 10 people now trust the government to put the country first.

This is a dangerous territory to be in and without serious #reforms we risk people losing faith in #democracy altogether.

Introducing a fairer, more #ProportionalVoting system would start the process of restoring trust and confidence in our political system.

Imagine all postelection coalition negotiations had to be multilateral. Including representatives from every party with MPs, and any independents, rather than the two largest parties negotiating separately.

Could this lead to a more cooperative approach to governing? Because the coalition deal itself had multi-party oversight and input.
