Heard some wild updates about the state of #permaculture communities & collectives in south-east #Queensland from a friend yesterday.

I mean I already knew that countercultural spaces along #Australia's central east coast were going full fascist through the #antivaxx > #FarRight recruitment pipeline, but hearing about male leadership standing onstage at music festivals talking about how women should be blindly obedient to men and cede their intellectual efforts to "powerful male warriors" is impressively patriarchal.

Christians continue to use a platform with a built-in tool for child abuse. A progressive alliance relies on a platform that undermines European democracy. Renew Europe amplifies a platform pushing a far-right agenda. Together, these groups account for around 67% of all active MEPs on X.

Data doesn't judge, but it does reveal contradictions.

This chart shows the share of all MEPs still active on X, broken down by EU political group. It does not represent internal percentages within each group.

Nearly 60% of MEPs still maintain an active account, while about 40% are not on the platform. Only one MEP is on X but currently inactive.

Despite repeated warnings about X’s growing moderation failures, disinformation risks, and instability, many Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) continue to rely on the platform for public communication. To better understand this landscape, we compiled a dataset of all current MEPs and checked whether they still maintain an active presence on X. The tables below show two rankings based on this data: (1) by country, highlighting where representatives remain most active on X, and (2) by EU political group, showing which groups still rely heavily on the platform.

To anybody in the DAT ecosystem interested in confronting these cultural problems, please feel free to reach out. Though my capacity is low, I have extensive experience understanding these toxic ideologies and their effects on marginalised communities after being a long-term contributor to #Holochain (effectively a #FarRight psyop designed to recruit progressive talent toward building software for hate actors and White Nationalist networks).
