My university ditched the embedded video system they were using for online courses for "Zoom clips" and it's fucking stuffed to the gills with AI features that will make it so students don't actually learn anything - there's a fucking homework cheat "helper" built right in that summarizes lectures and gives you homework answers.

A lot of cis folks who talk about "protecting trans people" do so from a very detached & theoretical point of view.
Trans people are some of the most vulnerable people in our society. Like all forms of marginalization, trans people are more likely to be in poverty, less likely to have social support, etc.
If we actually accept that the problems they face go waaaaay beyond fucking bathroom bills, then we have to go waaaaay beyond voting for people to veto legislation like that.

2022, negotiations on a police agreement between the European Union and the Israeli government reportedly came to a halt over concerns related to Israel’s occupation of Palestine.1 Yet, an investigation by Statewatch shows discussions have continued—and involve a standoff between the #EuropeanCommission and the Council of the #EuropeanUnion.
Statewatch has learned that not only could the agreement be in breach of international law, but that the Commission kept negotiating even during the ongoing genocide against the Palestinians. If adopted, the deal may allow for the exchange of sensitive personal data between the #EU and #Israel, which could be used in occupied territories. Experts warn this could lead to state-sanctioned human rights violations against both Palestinians and Israelis.
