#Signal bleibt beste Kompromisslösung. #XMPP und #Matrix kriegen von uns weiterhin Bestwertung, wurden aber aus den "Empfehlungen für Eilige" vom Newcomer #DeltaChat (nach intensiver Prüfung und Diskussion) verdrängt.

Alors que la résistance locale s'organise avec la constitution d'un collectif de riverains, le projet a fait l'objet de très nombreux avis négatifs lors de l'enquête publique (1200 contributions) tandis que la pétition GreenVoice contre ce projet a recueilli 45 000 signatures en l'espace de 2 mois.

@sundogplanets Just host it yourself? The bandwidth can't be that high for the videos if the audience is just your students. Then you have full control forever.

I don't have any videos, but I do that for my lecture notes. So much easier in the long run than using any online "platform". If I teach the course again, I can just copy the directory, update a few files, etc.

@liiwi @glyph A goal that is perhaps much more modest is making LLMs self-modify by learning—but that's more like creating updated versions of itself. LLMs are just some files in a filesystem so there is no actual physical self-modification happening, it would be a second, separate set of data.

@stshank that's good, it means you know it is just a web link, not a payment. Rhat was shocking in China, everything is a QR code. I only saw cash once and never used it. Always WeChat or AliPay, not even credit cards.

A tiny Bonfire feature that we’ve grown quite fond of 🌱

Instance admins can define their own set of default avatars, which are randomly assigned to people who haven’t uploaded a profile picture yet.

It sounds like a very small thing and technically, it is.

But after experimenting with it on the Jacobin community, we noticed how much these little details can contribute to giving an instance its own visual identity and fostering a sense of belonging to a shared digital place.

Not every feature that shapes a community needs to be big. Sometimes it’s just a bunch of tiny avatars 😊

@lauren Then I suppose we’re all innately creative and need the environment to develop it. There’s a big difference between a ghostwriter and someone turning to AI. I wouldn’t write either off, but I would emphasise the losses they risk, and the joys on offer to them.

The reason why this works is because:

1. The more close a surface is to a light the fewer samples need to be taken to find said light.
2. We can split rays between a light & a surface at any arbitrary point along it, as long as we take into account opacity.

Yes, I find ray-tracing interesting as well since it relies not only on faster hardware but also clever software. Whilst triangle-rasterization demonstrates just how powerful transformation-matrices can be!

Eine sehr enge Freundin von mir hat nen neuen Job bei einer Agentur. Seit 2 Wochen. Sobald man den PC anschmeißt, startet ein KI-Tracking und trackt, was man macht und ordnet es den einzelnen Tasks zu. Nach 2 Wochen jetzt das erste Gespräch darüber, dass sie mit den Tasks zu langsam sei, unter dem Durchschnitt läge und schneller werden müsse.
