@mattblaze @atrus Thank you! Wow the contrast is really something.
Our union local is trying to make some decisions about communication platforms. We want something easy to use that doesn't require a lot of expertise to build the back end. Preferably, we'd avoid Big Tech. To anyone who has experience using May First for union organizing or other organizing: Yay or nay? Any notes? https://mayfirst.org/

Fucking "app culture" drives me crazy. I got asked to install a mobile app just to look at the itinerary and accommodation information for a trip I'm going on.
Why isn't it just a web page?
So obviously I said "fuck that noise, hold my beer", reverse-engineered the app, and re-implemented it as a web page generator. It does all the same things as the "app" except now there's no tracking, no ads, and you get all the Web's features "for free" (deep links, copy-pasting, search-in-page, printing, works on anything, etc.).
Here's the full story:

I have reached the stage of the heatwave where I plug in the air fryer outside so I don’t make the house hotter by cooking.
@david_chisnall some places in Asia have outside kitchens, I think they have it right
A Seattle-area startup called #PulseSpace has grand plans for beaming power and data through space via lasers - and says the U.S. #SpaceForce is providing some financial firepower. https://www.geekwire.com/2026/pulse-space-40m-contract-space-force-laser-power/ #laser #space #GoldenDome

I am looking for help to proofread Spanish, German and (why not?) English.
The locale files for the UI are in:
https://github.com/Flaburgan/disco2very/tree/master/locales
For German, the data should also be translated: https://github.com/Flaburgan/disco2very/blob/master/data/ademe/locales/de.json
It is already proofread for EN and ES.
German translators can compare to https://github.com/Flaburgan/disco2very/blob/master/data/ademe/locales/en.json if you want English already proofread translations
Thank you for your help!
We're redesigning the Thunderbird desktop Calendar and we'd love your take before it's set. Click through an early prototype in the link below and tell us what feels right, what's missing, and what's confusing.
A few notes: it's a desktop browser prototype with limited functionality, and the sample events are just placeholders. The survey will also close after the first 30 responses are recorded. If you've got a few minutes, check it out below!

In 2002 I earned my RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer).
Looking back, it feels like a different world.
Linux wasn't mainstream. Many people saw it as something only enthusiasts or "crazy Unix people" used. Windows dominated almost everywhere.
The RHCE exam was entirely hands-on. No multiple choice. You had to configure and fix real systems under time pressure.
I was fortunate that the company I worked for believed in me and paid for the exam. I only had to do one thing: pass.
More than 20 years later, I'm still working with Linux every day. The technologies have changed from physical servers to Kubernetes and cloud, but the foundation remains the same.
Looking at this certificate reminds me how far the Linux ecosystem has come.

@fullywoolly thanks! Well, I learned stuff. I will replace it with a different design that gets at least 5-6W. No one can hear me on 20m with only 2W in the current band conditions.

If we evolved from apes, and the best evolutionary chance of success (and therefore with all the traits we value) is the biggest possible gene pool, do you reckon all the other animals will eventually evolve to the point where we'll all end up fucking? Really makes you think. Science. I wonder how evolved some animals would have to be until I thought, yeah alright why not.
