Notes: This was a technically challenging photo to make. It involved combining two (4x3 vertically oriented) captures, each made with the (medium format) Phase One back shifted up 15mm, and then with the individual captures further shifted 18mm left and right, respectively. The result is two "side-by-side" 4x3 vertical images, with just enough overlap to allow them to be stitched together into a single 5x7 horizontal frame, yielding a total of about 270 megapixels. (The left and right frames are joined roughly in the middle of the Bellagio fountain, which necessitated timing the two images to be taken at the same moment in successive fountain shows that occurred 15 minutes apart). The individual captures were taken with the Phase One's dual-capture HDR mode, which yields more than 16 usable stops of dynamic range, still not enough to fully capture the roughly 24 stops of dynamic range of the Strip at night (with rapidly changing super-bright video signs being the brightest dominant light sources). The equivalent field of view on a full frame 35mm camera would be roughly that of a 26mm lens. No emulsions were harmed in the making of this image. 0003106P
