Eldest was already late on her second day of the school year.

So I tweaked the #HomeAssistant automation controlling her Switch play time. Now arriving early at school gives her extra play time, every minute late detracts a minute of play time.

This morning she arrived while school doors were still closed.

Amsterdam Weird News translation dispatch: a guy described as a “fitness tiktokker,” a grown man in his 40s, went down to the Amsterdam central station to livestream. Some random guys in the background mildly heckled him by imitating him. He then cussed them out until they approached and started stabbing them live on stream. (Everyone survived.)

And people say *I’m* mean to hecklers in my mentions…

One of the Kids had a birthday recently and asked Kid2 to make a cake. They chose the tiger from the Women's Weekly birthday cake book and Kid2 made a chocolate cake from scratch and then did the buttercream icing.

When she went to colour it, though, she discovered we didn't have yellow food colouring.

'It's a shame we don't have a spice or something we could use...' she mused.

'Omg,' I said. 'TURMERIC! It's a really mild flavour and you'll only need a little. The icing is super sweet and the chocolate cake will mask the earthy taste of the turmeric. Give it a try!'

And so she did (with a little bit of icing in a separate bowl just in case). And we taste tested it and it was great! I think it turned out amazingly. What a star she is 🥰

@jonny @aud It is absolutely fair that Calibre, having started life as a Python 2 project (Kovid infamously said he would fork Python before porting to 3.x), predated modern packaging standards. That said, in 20 years of using Python, I don't ever recall a time where setup.py wasn't given special meaning, at least by easy_install.

@leonido Die KI-Bubble ist auch ein wichtiger, unmittelbarer Aspekt in naher Zukunft. Auf längere Zeit gesehen ist alles kapitalgedeckte auch deshalb problematisch, weil dafür die Wirtschaft wachsen muss. Es gibt aber erwiesenermaßen kein ausreichend #GrünesWachstum. Deshalb bedeutet kapitalgedeckt auch immer, die eigenen finanziellen Interessen mit der Eskalation der #Klimakatastrophe zu verknüpfen.
