Not to brag*, but I slapped together the dough last night when I was tired. Put the bread in the fridge, baked it after work today while I was making dinner.

Cost is one aspect.

Meanwhile, customers are feeling the squeeze just as hard: 52% of UK consumers have cut non-essential spending, with 72% of those naming “eating out” as one of their cuts. "
Places are simplifying to cut costs, and he talks about the rise in rotisserie chicken shops.
Also, people's habits are changing.

The response from restaurants has varied from minimalisation to extreme exclusivity.

A week ago, I screwed up when folding a mash made from soughdough starter into a batch of dough, and forgot to save a portion aside. All my yeasties gone! So I started over with 50/50 rye and water. For days on end there was no action. I halved the batch several times, folding the discard into morning crepes.
Today it finally took off. Bread tomorrow!

He commented on Summer and I running down the hill with bags of food every morning.
He asked how I know I'm not feeding Trumpers?
I said I don't care if they are hungry and need food.
I followed with that I suspect that they know that the person and dog filling the free pantry didn't vote for the administration that is gleefully starving the most vulnerable.
