Oh, there were a bunch of things like this.
For example, in Teams, you can type an at sign and then start someone's name and it will autocomplete their full name so you sound like an angry parent scolding a child. But, you can hit backspace. So someone wanting to address me as David does @Dav{tab}{backspace}.
But a lot of other cultures have very different conventions for names. Indian ones are a staggeringly bad fit for this, which is surprising for a company whose CEO is Indian. There's no way of both notifying an person and using their preferred form of address for a huge number of cases.
Not being able to print local traditional names on government documents is worse.

46.101.214.197 (DigitalOcean) hosts a command and control server
147.182.224.216 (DigitalOcean) hosts an exploit script
62.60.130.0/24 (Cipher Operations Beograd) performs mass user login tries
51.79.141.52 and 51.75.155.49 (OVH) tries to exploit SMTP servers
I wonder if a bunch of companies are using it to probe how much Trump has disassembled the IRS. Some of these donations look so sketchy that, in normal times, I'd expect at least a gentle probe from the IRS, if not a full-blown investigation. If they don't do anything, that gives you a useful datapoint on how much fraud you can probably get away with this tax year.

“The Florida Department of Transportation on Monday announced the removal of license plate reader cameras on state roadways after Gov. Ron DeSantis expressed his concerns with the artificial intelligence-powered flock cameras.
According to FDOT, local law enforcement agencies will have 30 days to remove the flock cameras that are currently operational.

I really feel like we had several prominent FOSS organizations fail us by not saying "hey hold on, don't use generative AI in FOSS projects, we're not sure what the legal, community, environmental implications of this are but there are serious problems and we have a history of taking a stand" and I worry that maybe we lost our moment to be principled, except in niche spaces, and the walls are closing in
And... I'm really sad about it. I think we're underestimating the amount of damage that's happening. :\

With all due respect, saying that racist behaviour is "Un-Australian" just displaces responsibility.
Racist behaviour exists here (and has for a long time), and it is unfortunately a part of the social fabric.
This is where we are, and political rhetoric by the likes of ON and right wing media have emboldened Australian racism and brought it to the surface.
It's a bitter pill to swallow, but these people are just as Australian as you (we) are.

@janl @nossipova I think that has been debunked - at least when I looked that up I couldn't find any solid proofs. What the company does with their profits and what organizations they support is what I care more about than one maybe poorly reflected twitter post.

@hukl @janl @nossipova Proton had a quite questionable stance in the APT Down story. They locked accounts belonging to a security researcher for "malicious activity" and Andy personally overrode that choice, which IMHO can only go in one of two ways:
A) they had been overblocking - concerning
B) They had been following the rules (as Andy said) - then he has NO place overriding his team's ruling.
The whole discussion was a very uncomfortable thread on Reddit.
