I’ve seen trackpads in MacBooks Pro fail due to faulty batteries. When the batteries expand, they push on the trackpad from below and the pressure stops them working.
Has this one been having battery-life issues?

I calculated how different battery sizes would influence our energy balance. Based on data from 2025. Charging limits and battery losses not taken into account.

1 kWh battery: 0,5 MWh from battery
5 kWh battery: 1,6 MWh from battery
10 kWh battery: 1,9 MWh from battery
15 kWh battery: 2,0 MWh from battery
20 kWh battery: 2,1 MWh from battery
100 kWh battery: 2,4 MWh from battery
1000 kWh battery: 2,8 MWh from battery
5000 kWh battery: 2,8 MWh from battery
The optimal battery size based on that data would have been 7 kWh (256 cycles) to 10 kWh (194 cycles).
Over a lifespan of 10 years, a 7 kWh battery would save 3600 € (1794 kWh times 10 years times 0,2 € (current energy price 0,26 € - 0,6 € lost feed in earning)).
From a financial perspective, a battery still doesn't make sense to me in our situation. Maybe if the inverter needs replacing or if the heat pump changes our usage profile enough.
@luca most private batteries are too large. As long as you cannot use the fluctuating prices to load/unload the batteries.

Week15 of recovery : went out on Saturday evening, to a Serbian (ex-Yugoslav ?) cafe, with Dutch orchestra playing Hungarian & Balkan music ; happy that I got to dog-sit there ; caught the full moon on the way there & back ; & sang sad songs while cycling & crying : Vondelpark is magical when it’s empty!

People talking about concurrency, parallelism, and async as if it's some mystical shit like Quantum Deadlocks or Schrödinger's stack trace or something.
What do you mean "sync-over-async"? From any perspective in most software there's multiple levels of concurrency/async/parallelism, why are we talking about this as if it's mystical wizardry?
@tesla Well, because there are a lot of _nuance_ and skill when it comes to this!
Try calling `block_on` in an async context in Rust (with the tokio runtime) and see what happens.
It's not that easy and languages differ greatly in their way of implementing async (the linked post is just _one_ example)!
Make a folder on your computer or an album on your phone and save images there that make you smile.
