In summary, nothing I've seen alters my general assessment (which is fairly mainstream):
- US election systems do have technical vulnerabilities, and we should definitely continue to work to make these systems better.
- There is, fortunately, no credible evidence thus far that technical vulnerabilities have ever actually been exploited to alter a US election outcome.

This is true.
I did something of a ‘deep dive’ in 2020.
The machines are relatively simple tallying machines. They are not ‘online’ during the voting process, they just return a tally faster.
What passed muster previously was much more ‘vibes’ based: polling/media orgs collected & reported on the ‘vibes’ from key constituencies thus ‘calling it’ way before full counts had been completed.
Now, the Orange Oaf is exploiting all the misunderstandings to bring the entire process into question.

- tu peux faire une demande CADA dès le 2ème mois, mais il ne faut surtout pas attendre la décision CADA ou enregistrement pour aller au TA si tu l’envisages, sinon c’est perdu
@maud_erre@social.tchncs.de Il vaut mieux aller au TA et se désister si la CADA donne un avis positif, que de se retrouver à ne plus pouvoir aller au TA si la CADA dit OK mais que la CNIL refuse toujours.

Jai commence par demander les docs à ma commune, puis saisine cada, puis je les ai demabde a la pref qui nécessairement les a aussi mais plus récemment, et re saisine cada, et je viens de demander le récépissé a la cnil y a 10 jours

I don't know how to unfuck the environmental movement without moving the centre of mass of the movement out of the cities and into the farmlands and the bush.
I don't mean for city folks to care less or do less or anything like that (do better things though, yes). I just don't think it can be effectively led from there. I don't have a specific vision for where this goes, I'm just thinking out loud right now.
@CedarTea Thanks for this thread - I see a very similar situation with dark sky preservation/satellite pollution. City folks have already lost access to the night sky thanks to urban light pollution, so they have a harder time caring about degradation of the night sky worldwide.
@reticuleena One reason I decided not to have kids is that I'm pessimistic about the future. At the same time, I see many children around me who could use more support from the adults in their lives. If I become more financially and personally stable, hopefully I will be able to support some of them. :)
P.S. Maybe this is also because I grew up in a country where I still remember seeing children begging for food.

The right to contest AI-generated decisions (e.g. about benefit allocations) rests on the assumption that people can tell whether a decision is contestable and, if so, on what grounds. I can find no support for that assumption and I believe it is false.
