I switched to Xfce specifically to get away from Adwaita
My favorite horologist has *finally* gotten around to making a podcast. It’s about time!
RGB rendering done with SAO's DS9 on the evolution of my simulated cluster of galaxies. Thered colors and the contours show the projected gas temperature (useful to visualise shock waves after the major merger), the blue colors trace the baryon density while the green colors show the magnetic field strength, which grows by many orders of magnitude in the cluster as a result of turbulent dynamo amplification.
we got a lot of work to do to reimagine our relationship with nature
I've built a virtual museum with nearly every operating system you can think of

I am using Thunderbird more and more for multiple email accounts and RSS feeds. I should give them another donation. I'd love for it to look "better," knowing full well that many will complain if anything is changed.
White folx, this is the myth of white supremacy operating in real time, in your mouth, in your fingers when you type it. The belief that you have access to everything, that proximity is permission, that if something exists in a space you occupy, it is available to you, is not a personality quirk. It is the table's core promise. You were told, without words, from birth, that the world and everything in it was yours to move through without asking, without context, without cost.
Big thanks to @Otherland-Bookshop (a beautiful bookstore in Berlin)for organising the event with @pluralistic about his German book #enshitification !

I have a question for all of you - especially, but not only, neurodiverse folks -
What brings you joy?
I'm particularly interested in simple things, things that don't cost a lot of money or need a lot of planning.
One thing that brings me joy, for example, is being creative, like painting the rock in the picture below.

OK, I'll just say it. Most science fiction and all cyberpunk is radically dystopian. Hopeful, optimistic visions of the future are sorely needed. The Solarpunk movement is onanistic rubbish, highjacked by 100 peripheral ideologies. We need a positive vision for the future or we'll never get there.
excited to resume my series: "Ticci standing next to ridiculously huge American vehicles"
@viticci This is true! I’m 🇸🇪 and can’t believe how big they are. I saw the F-150 on a parking lot in my city and it was huge.

Today someone (who is not on Mastodon) released a collection of more than 570 distinct operating systems, pre-installed with VM configurations for the 250+ different platforms, going back all the way to 1948.
Now, I have to admit I'm posting this without trying it myself, as I'm running low on disk space on this machine.
Because the full download is 121GB (174GB unzipped!). There is also a lighter version at 14GB that will download stuff on demand.
@kfitz I look forward to reading this! Many years ago now, I co-edited a collection on The Abolition of the University. It might be of interest?: https://olh.openlibhums.org/collections/446/
@mpe Oooooh, yes! Thanks for pointing me to it!
