I think if it was almost human looking I'd want to treat it as such and would probably be disappointed if it couldn't act the part.
Human shaped (like c3po) would be a good choice as our homes are designed for people. So it'd probably be able to do more and navigate better in a home environment.
Building a Linux kernel like I'm 14 again.
Hey Leute,
könnt ihr mir helfen?
Ich suche eine App / ein Programm, mit dem man NotenLESEN trainieren kann.
Also sowohl mit Violin- als auch mit Bassschlüssel.
Gern mit Gamification.
Kennt ihr was?

Hollo 0.8.0 shipped less than a month ago, and 0.9.0 is already shaping up to be a bigger release than I expected. New frontend design, Passkey support, WebFinger domain separation, a media proxy, full FEP-044f (Mastodon-style quote posts) compliance, and Traditional Chinese docs. More details when it's out.
"I need the full DevOps workflow to publish the site."
"It's a static site. Here are the SFTP credentials to upload the files you have, which were generated by the client's SSG."
"You don't understand. I need to upload the site; I need the DevOps procedure."
"No, you don't understand. It's generated by BSSG; all you have to do is upload the output via SFTP into the FreeBSD jail and the deploy is automatic."
Silence.
"But how does the deploy bot handle it?"
Silence.
The person who hired him (as an intern) gets on the line:
"Just humor him, the kid is sharp-he's really good with AI!"
I tell him we're talking about two completely different things.
He fires back: "If you can't keep up with him, I think you need to update your skills. That's what we're paying you for."
And that was that. I've decided that for 80 Euros a year - while providing a dedicated FreeBSD jail, over 100GB of hosting, backups, monitoring, and custom BSSG tweaks - they can definitely find someone more "up to date" elsewhere.
@stefano the plural of Euro in a Euro
I don't trust any project which doesn't have a makefile...
@mms BSSG doesn't have a makefile 😆
@cstross not very well camouflaged. Let’s run over the more brilliant ones and watch over a few as natural selection moves us toward mottled-tarmac-and-dust larvae.
@NunavutBirder @Dougfir @sarae @ai6yr Nice! Hey wait—I’m just realizing you are the same Clare that writes poetry (and builds things)!
@joycebell @Dougfir @sarae @ai6yr C’est lui. That’s him.

@davidgerard I assume you already saw this report, but just to be sure: https://arstechnica.com/ai/2026/05/energy-supplier-abandons-lake-tahoe-residents-to-serve-data-centers/
@mrtnsnp oh yeah it's in the pile
if you think LLMs are good for anything, I have a bridge to sell you
it’ll be exceptionally well-designed and cost about average for a bridge in your geographic location because when real engineers abdicate responsibility and use technology that doesn’t work to design something shoddy, they get fucking sued and their colleagues ensure they can’t design any more bridges in the future

This is a straightforward composition showing the front of the Smithsonian Castle, which is not actually a castle, and, despite being part of the Smithsonian, not actually a museum, either (it houses mostly offices and a small visitor center). It sits on the National Mall, which, despite the name, is not a shopping center. Lies and deceit are everywhere in DC!
@mattblaze It’s astonishing how few tourists visit DC these days.
this looked VERY Where The Wild Things Are IRL
I love Forgejo but because I *speak* Esperanto I cannot read its name "correctly" due to the missing accent mark over the "g"
"Forĝejo" (for-JAY-o) means "place of forging"
"Forgejo" (for-GAY-o) means "distant gay"
