Good. For national security reasons, we shouldn't buy a single one. Sadly, I'm sure Canadian companies are integrated in the manufacturing process for these jets. Even then we should drop the F-35. No question.

@thomasfuchs There are several different failure modes for magnetic media. You compare analog and digital media. Besides materials and manufacturing quality, the likelihood of problems appearing must be related to storage conditions.... I will keep an eye out for a study.

The DoJ has arrested Don Lemon, and another journalist, Georgia Fort, based on their theory that "covering a protest against an ICE pastor at a church, as a journalist, is the same as the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, Alabama."
Despite a judge refusing to sign off on a warrant for Lemon's arrest because this is obviously a cracker frame up.
Pam Bondi needs to go to prison; the whole DoJ Civil Rights division too.
In this age of "AI", that old dragon of measuring developer productivity by output (lines of code, commits, tickets etc) has reared its head again.
The idea in particular that "coding == productivity" still has a strong grip on our industry, and I see many takes from managers who believe that coding needs to be maximised.

Yeah, I get it on why you're still here, because fundamentally I feel the same. I see what the fedi could be, but it's often held back by trying to be the opposite of something rather than forging its own path. I've always felt it was reductive to build alternatives to platforms we know don't work and aren't sustainable.
It feels like the fedi could be doing better but it just doesn't because it's satisfied with being a less featured alternative to garbage platforms instead of pushing forward into uncharted territory and just try new things.
