On #ThisDayInHistory in 1975, immediately after a visit by US Pres. Ford and #HenryKissinger, the #FarRight #Suharto dictatorship in #Indonesia invaded former Portuguese colony #EastTimor. A #genocide, and 24 years of #occupation, followed; a fifth of the population was killed.
When you look at the catastrophic damage that #ClimateChange is *already* causing, and then you look at governments all over the world saying that they want to keep burning fossil fuels for decades to come and making things even worse, the only question I find I can ask is:
"What the absolute fuck is wrong with people?"

In 1961 #WestPapuans were forced under threats of being killed to agree to a military coup by #Indonesia, Since then it's been decades-long #genocide funded by British and Australian private money and ignored by global governments and the media - SHAME! #humanrights

Floods across Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Malaysia have killed close to 1,000 people.
A warmer world means heavier storms and deadlier rain.
Communities should not pay the price of a crisis they did not cause.
Protect people. Finance adaptation. Make polluters pay.

I would have thought an #Australian would know that #Indonesia has multiple time zones, no?
I guess for many of them, they don't really see much beyond #Bali
