Sources say, Canada is scaling back the purchase of F-35 in favor of the Swedish Gripen fighter jet.

Are the MAGA voters tired of "winning" yet?

John Ivison: Sources say Ottawa considering Swedish jets over F-35s for half of fleet

All the signs point to Ottawa buying fewer than half the number of F-35s it said it would, and Carney's speech in Davos explains why

@randahl Canada should me dealing with not only other Scandinavian countries, but Denmark and Greenland should be negotiating with Canada on a scaled defense package suitable for continued 'disintegration' from the US.

@randahl

Good. For national security reasons, we shouldn't buy a single one. Sadly, I'm sure Canadian companies are integrated in the manufacturing process for these jets. Even then we should drop the F-35. No question.

@randahl Do it. Maybe even open a manufacturing plant to help cover the demand (Ukraine!)

@randahl (GOP/USA Ambass. to CAN, appointed by Felon 47, Pete) "Hoekstra apparently skipped the class on diplomacy being about saying the nastiest thing in the nicest way. Instead, he threatened..." No suprise there: GOP being despicable bullies in every possible way: threats/crude manners/nonsensical. Why would anyone want to buy weapons/military equipment from their new enemy that tried to insult, economically hurt them, & theatened to take annex them? (Unless you are a German Merz fan boy.)

@randahl The worst part is that we knew from the onset that the F-35 is an inferior fighter, but, you know, Danish air defense purchased it for "political reasons."

@randahl 2026 is really turning out to be the "find out" stage of the USA's decision to fuck around with Trump for another term.

@randahl yeh, the people I read on military stuff are saying it's already a done deal. F-35's out, Gripen in.

I wish Australia would do the same, as the Gripen is perfect for here
