Des del 21 de desembre de l'any passat que no he picat codi però els servidors #appy funcionen molt estables. 💪🏼

USS Abraham Lincoln has arrived in The Middle East.
Iran strike could be imminent.
@randahl if they do that, they'll finally figure out if their drone defences work, because the swarm that heads their way will be devastating
Long Post about my Selfhosting things
@peritia
2/ individual people do pay for CryptPad. We have 1500 subscribers in the cryptpad.fr service managed by the CryptPad team. We give extra storage from already 1gb free. We also have 1000 donators.
That's really awesome!
I sadly had to find out about the lacking S3 support the Hard way
Though since I already hosted Cryptpad once on a Mini PC I decided to just use that Mashine for an Backup and my Main Server now runs the Services on an ZFS Storage with a Parity Disk.
Plus Making Backups of the Cryptpad Data that you Uploaded is super easy
@spla aquesta es sa part de «ara és tard» :)
@cibersheep sí, ho podien haver anomenat "Rodalia" des de l'inici.
The fedi is like a great indie band. Growing via word of mouth. We just have to not break up or OD before everybody looks back and wonders why we never got big. Then we can say we're still here and dominate the airwaves while the industry rock stars fade away. #SocialWeb

Spurs All-Star Victor Wembanyama says he is "horrified" by the deaths of two American citizens in Minneapolis shot by masked federal agents. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/sports/2026/01/28/basketball/nba/wembanyama-minneapolis-killings/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #basketball #nba #victorwembanyama #sanantoniospurs #minneapolis #ice
@owenblacker I've not seen it yet so I had to wait until I recognised things from the trailer
@otfrom or is easily my favourite film of last year; I went to see it twice in the cinema and bought it straightaway on streaming
@res260 I think part of that is the API.
In our ecosystem, we've normalized that you have to build the whole server side, with data storage and network interoperability and so on, for every single new kind of app.
It'd be great if you could use a standard API to make cool apps, and leave all the plumbing to a general-purpose server.
That's what we're doing in the ActivityPub API task force at w3c.
@retrocomputing Of course but.. if you had one last chance?
@cubicgarden Then it would be a donation, as far as I'm concerned.
Anything else would look quite self-centered to me, borderline creepy if involving posthumous messages or the like..

Portrait from my 'favourite stations' project. Here's Anne, a Metropolitan Line train operator and photographer, at her favourite station Baker Street.
With all the tiktok drama I have been telling people Mastodon is still here and kicking!! I love this app and I really think the decentralized model is the best for social media.
Still, people don’t want to join! What do you think Mastodon’s biggest barriers are to courting new users? What could be done to improve the product and grow the user base in a positive way?
@taylorlorenz There is also the problem of retaining people. @davidallengreen, a UK lawyer with solid takes on pretty much everything, just went on an extended fedi break because the purity police didn’t like him using substack and he got bored of the hassling. Lovely own goal reply guys, the only behaviour you changed was his posting on the fedi. This is a people issue not a tech issue, which I’m not quite sure how to get around. He’s not the only one either.
Very blowy yesterday. This looking over Upper Loch Torridon.
Daring Fireball: The Names They Call Themselves

Really extremely good, especially at the finish.
@timbray the ending..... from comments I'm hearing outside the US, I think it's too late to say "lest it..."🫤
I love #activitypub but seeing how slow its development is compared to #atproto makes it hard to be excited about it. This goes for both protocol development and ecosystem development.
ATproto has many cool projects popping up every month, the vision is clear and platforms integrate with each other.
I don't see this excitement and work on the ActivityPub side :(
Almost freezing outside this morning and the new heat pump is totally unfazed.
What's your thought on computing self-sovereignty?
@organicmaps Soverign computing needs to be made easier. Many awesome projects are working hard for this and I wish them all success: @realdrdoug, @yunohost, @freedomboxfndn, @start9labs / @56a6b75373c8f7b93c53bcae86d8ffbaba9f2a1b38122054fcdb7f3bf645b727
@hook I am not. 😔 Flight from here. But I take the Eurostar to London next week.
@evan, ah ok. Safe travels!
I think there is a route back to London, if it happens to coincide with your plans.

UK PEOPLE: this is REALLY IMPORTANT. If the government bans under-16s from using VPNs, then logically they must intend to REQUIRE AGE VERIFICATION FOR ALL VPN USE. Which will affect adults too!
*Your* privacy and right to anonymous web browsing is at risk!
Makes you wonder how all these remote workers will manage without a VPN connection to their employers IT infrastructure 😉
"And this is the holler deck."
"Cool. I've always wanted to try a holodeck. What programs are available?"
"Not holodeck, H O L L E R deck. When you're fed up with the universe you come here and scream."
