The existence of a proof-of-concept Linux-targeting UEFI bootkit that's immediately blocked by secure boot being enabled being interpreted as evidence that secure boot is a waste of time is, uh, a take?

SolarZero a victim of Trump's election? Blackrock likely sees more profits by investing in oil and gas.
A lot of people don’t know this one weird trick — much like JavaScript, C also lets you perform arithmetic with mixed types:
In every relationship there is one person who loads the grocery belt like a Scandinavian architect, and one who loads it like a racoon on crystal meth.

Many Americans think that Hawai'ians lived in huts prior to colonization. The US actually de-industrialized Hawai'i. Before 1898, Hawai'i already had mass transit, railroads. The city of Honolulu was lit by nationalized, renewable hydropower before the White House had electricity

A few words on how to speak to/about #Native people:
1. We still exist. Do not speak about us in the past tense unless you are discussing history. We were not wiped out; don’t try to erase us again.
2. There are 100's of American Indian tribes/nations. We are not a monolith; don't expect us to be experts on cultures that are not ours.
3. Speaking of expecting us to be experts, don't come to Native people or communities demanding them to educate you. Start by listening.
"El #DíasinCompras critica un modelo de producción y consumo a la medida de las grandes empresas y de sus objetivos de maximización de beneficios. Un modelo en el que la mayor parte de los productos se fabrican en lugares cuyas personas no podrán disfrutar de ellos, y que trabajan en condiciones de semiesclavitud. Miles de kilómetros de injusticia social con grandes impactos medioambientales llegan en forma de oferta en el Viernes Negro"

Brought to you by the same folks who complain that kids being exposed to books that include #LGBTQ folx is ‘indoctrination’.🙄
“A curriculum framework that calls on teachers to promote Alberta’s oil and gas industry to schoolchildren was quietly published months ago, to the surprise of education experts and the opposition.”

It’s getting cold outside, better prepare.
The sheer number of people who cannot reason their way through a simple visit to the supermarket amazes me every time.
- Cannot plan getting into a parking space, cannot figure out one-way systems, don't leave room for the car in front, need to take three attempts at a simple space entry
- Stand still in groups blocking the entire travelator - a device, I'll remind everyone, is meant to move people QUICKER. Want to stand still? Use the fucking lift, it's RIGHT THERE. People should walk on travelators, OR STAY TO ONE SIDE. I'VE LIVED IN LONDON YOU FUCKS I KNOW THE RULES
- Stopping dead on exiting the travelator or escalator, unable to decide on a direction in which to move, and causing potential pile-ups because the movement of people behind you WILL NOT STOP YOU UTTER MORONS
- Stopping dead on entering the supermarket, likewise
- unable to decide on a product to find, blocking the entire aisle by placing trolleys sideways or in bottlenecks
- changing their minds on what they're buying, scattering unrelated products all over the place like insane truffle hogs who found a gram of coke before hitting the woods
- Sudden direction changes or dead stops from a previous purposeful walk, pile-up ensues
- finding broken eggs in a carton, PUTTING IT BACK ON THE SHELF WITH THE LID CLOSED
- leaving empty coffee cups on the shelf
- can't queue
- can't operate a self checkout
- does not know where their payment card is, faffing about for minutes trying to find it when YOU KNEW YOU'D NEED IT YOU DUMB FUCKS
- more travelator hell, this time with people juggling badly packed bags and fractious children who didn't want to come to the supermarket anyway it's BORING DAD I'M BORED
- more car park hell
Fuck all this shit. I only had to go because Ashley finished off all the eggs at 4am.
I got this book, "The Clear Creek Bike Book," when I purchased my Fiorelli Milano San Remo road bike around the time of the First Oil Shock.
It is excellent.
Headsets, shifters, and brakes have moved on from the designs of the 70s but otherwise it is a very good bicycle manual … technically and politically.
Really gives you a feel for the times, the early 1970s.

Thank you @marcdaalder for once again shining the light on Covid and LongCovid!
John, a LongCovid sufferer told newsroom: “Most people have no idea both how severe and how extensive this problem is. At times, it feels to me like the team of five million marched off the Covid battlefield leaving behind the injured and the maimed with scarcely a look back,”
You can do better Aotearoa!
Now without paywall. This is the first article of a series.

Germany's largest health insurer beats last year's record sick leave notices by August this year. You guessed why - respiratory illnesses! But all my friends and family in Germany tell me Covid isn't a thing anymore and wonder why I still wear a mask. 🤷🏻♀️

If you're reading this, please #boost so I can get back to being federated with the #fediverse. Unfortunately, the data center I've been hosting with for years and years encountered some serious issues. I had to move suddenly, losing almost everything. I took the chance to change the software I use. But I've still lost all of my followers, all of my federation, etc! It's also taken down rblind.com, my passion project to get more #blind folks off #reddit. I'll be bringing that back over the coming days. In the meantime, hi! I'm a blind guy who uses the #NVDA #screenreader, loves #accessibility and works in the field, and reads tons of #fanfic, #litrpg, and #sciencefiction and #fantasy in my spare time. Nice to meet you!
