Yes the environment was totally racist but also the men felt hardware was the manly thing and kept women out of hardware but women wrote the software. Look at early NASA. Then when hardware started to become commodity the men realised it was jobs for the girls and forced women out of software to replace them. Its always been about white men!

I can’t help but agree with you, but I also know the scientific evidence demonstrates that wealth grants them impunity to act on their sentiments. The super wealthy also have their country club of cultish ideas. They can speak to each other and amplify each other while pointing to their money as proof of their cognitive elite status.

Dolly Parton just died and we can't get enough of talking about how she used her wealth and her influence to help those in need. She did it quietly and consistently.

She also changed her opinions on things when she learned more about them.

All that without once publicly donating a million dollars to an authoritarian fascist.

Money doesn't make you evil. The love of money over people might make you greedy and selfish, but it won't necessarily make you fascist.

Yeah I think the better angle from anticapitalists/anarchists is that if a position with such unchallengeable power exists, there will always be the possibility that the person in that position will be a piece of shit, and that alone is reason enough to not have positions of unchallengeable power, because no mechanism of making sure people in that position are decent people will ever be perfect, and it only takes one bad apple to wreck everything for decades if not centuries to come, and abusive people will always be drawn to positions where they can do the most abuse.
It's a systems vulnerability thing, not an issue of changing individual beliefs

There's no longer a need to confirm or mask when that wealthy and the emotional draw of power leads to maximizing those beliefs via the power.

Which is why Scott, French, James, Newmark become massive engines for social good -- they couldn't be that before the extreme wealth.
