What do you like the most about the Fediverse and Mastodon?
👀
@Em0nM4stodon the "interconnected villages" culture instead of a "one-size-fits-all town square", because:
it nurtures human-size communities: I browse some instances' public timelines directly because I know there's probably good people there to discover. I wish this was a first-party feature, like Akkoma has "bubble instances"
it simplifies the freedom of association: domain-blocking Fosstodon and a few other instances greatly improves the qualities of one's replies
@Em0nM4stodon
That I can re-read what I've posted and laugh at the content everyone else ignores.
@Em0nM4stodon chronological timeline and no algorithmic post recommendation
@Em0nM4stodon@infosec.exchange Imho the objective killer feature is the interoperability between the different types of services (Lemmy, Peertube, Pixelfed etc.), but people seem to barely use it. It would probably be a big deal on the commercial alternatives.

That it feels Real
@Em0nM4stodon Getting my data and social networking on my own hands, running an instance and federate / defederate with any entity I want.
@Em0nM4stodon No autoplaying vertical video
@Em0nM4stodon
It feels like what social media was always supposed to be, focused on human connection.
No tracking, no advertisements, awesome people (yourself included), human algorithm and intelligent, respectful discussion (plus a whole bunch of animal frens and silliness)
@Em0nM4stodon the lack of algorithms, no slop/ads being shoved down my throat, it's a great place to find people with similar interests as me, and the list goes on and on.
@Em0nM4stodon No tracking, no surveillance, no ads, no pressure, and the tools to block them.
@Em0nM4stodon It´s a place to recharge, to meet nice people and not getting manipulated <3
