What do you like the most about the Fediverse and Mastodon?
👀
@Em0nM4stodon chronological timeline and no algorithmic post recommendation
@Em0nM4stodon@infosec.exchange Imho the objective killer feature is the interoperability between the different types of services (Lemmy, Peertube, Pixelfed etc.), but people seem to barely use it. It would probably be a big deal on the commercial alternatives.
@Em0nM4stodon
That it feels Real
@Em0nM4stodon Getting my data and social networking on my own hands, running an instance and federate / defederate with any entity I want.
@Em0nM4stodon No autoplaying vertical video
@Em0nM4stodon
It feels like what social media was always supposed to be, focused on human connection.
No tracking, no advertisements, awesome people (yourself included), human algorithm and intelligent, respectful discussion (plus a whole bunch of animal frens and silliness)
@Em0nM4stodon the lack of algorithms, no slop/ads being shoved down my throat, it's a great place to find people with similar interests as me, and the list goes on and on.
@Em0nM4stodon No tracking, no surveillance, no ads, no pressure, and the tools to block them.
@Em0nM4stodon It´s a place to recharge, to meet nice people and not getting manipulated <3
@Em0nM4stodon In the algorithm-free feeds people actually see and read what you post. Even if there's just a link and no cover image, call to action, or clickbait.
@Em0nM4stodon
No ads
No billionaire owners
No evil algorithm
@Em0nM4stodon Seeing people post about random stuff that interests them, other people chiming in with questions and comments, and then just reading through all of that.
@Em0nM4stodon I’d go with the classic “the friends we made along the way”. People being people.
@Em0nM4stodon
I am not angry, despondent, bullied or marketed to anymore. Auto correct wants me to change it so it says I am not marketed anymore and I agree.
I block the words that cause me stress and anxiety especially the doings of wealthy people and politicians. I can always look if I am in the mood.
I love how my instance is moderated.
I have no feelings of need for likes or shares.
It is just so much healthier for me.
@Em0nM4stodon
First and foremost it's ad-free,
It feels quieter as it is made by people with honesty, and a real reason to share something, instead of feeding the algorithm monster,
No algorithm, but I can go exploring anyways if I'm in the mood,
No random racist, sexist, far-right propaganda popping up in the feed randomly,
The people who are here, for example you :)
Chronological feed
No advertising
(Plus most of my interactions are lovely, but I know that's not the case for everyone).
@Em0nM4stodon people being people. Discourse and options. The only algorithm is the algorithm I ask for. Etc.
@Em0nM4stodon the quietness and thought put into posts
@Em0nM4stodon that I am in charge of creating and maintaining my bubble.
Populating it with real humans and their real stories, opinions and discussions.
