@freesoftwarecaucus Forgive me for pointing this out, but we might have to rule-out Matrix.org because it's based in the UK, and it has been compromised by this push for ID-verification by force of law.

Any online service which is based in the UK, Australia and New Zealand would be subject to this same legislation. Perhaps instances located outside of the Commonwealth would work?

@trebach @freesoftwarecaucus @Beli rrright 😵💫 where does that leave us? France? Self-hosted? Federated? Orgs that have made public statements to not collect IDs?
@freesoftwarecaucus @Beli @travisfw I don't know about the EU due to possible age restriction laws. Australia and New Zealand have or are about to pass laws banning social media for those under 16 years old.
I don't know about the rest because I'm not a lawyer and it's going to be jurisdiction specific.
Maybe Canada or Switzerland?
@freesoftwarecaucus uhm. Jabber exists. And for Discord use cases, even IRC. Hell, IRC is probably the best option.
