A £9 baguette in Dunkeld (wtf). A walk as the weather set in. The snow makes everything so peaceful. Thank God for thermals.

@kristiedegaris As one who has baked all my own bread for 20+ years, I highly recommend it. It really doesn't take much time or labor and it's so satisfying. You're not going to be out building walls in this weather anyway are ye? Imagine your house filled with the smell of fresh-baked bread...
@kristiedegaris yeah £9 for a cheese n ham toastie in Moffat the other week.. I was so surprised I didn't even register my disbelief until a few minutes out of the shop. Like getting mugged.
@_timemit_ WHAT!? I think we need to start an anti £9 sandwich club. I felt exactly the same.
@kristiedegaris
Just double-checked and our typical 1000g artisanal sourdough is C$8, which is not bad.
Arguably the wonderful vistas to and from your bakery are worth the awe tax.
@DenOfEarth Oh this was like a 8 inch baguette with some thinly spread nduja, sprinkle of rocket, tiny bit of chorizo and cheese in it. It's extraordinarily expensive for a sandwich here, although everything is getting expensive. I think it's the equivalent of $12.
@kristiedegaris
Oh it was a baguette sandwich! That's still on par with prices here. A decent 8" chicken sub could be between C$12 and C$15, by which I mean Canadian dollars, or about £7-£9.
@DenOfEarth I feel like maybe I am really old but £9 for a mediocre sandwich shocks me. I am shooketh.
@kristiedegaris
Oh I am still shocked at chocolate bars that cost more than $1. I commiserate with your shookethness.
@kristiedegaris £9 made me say "I'm sorry what?" aloud at my phone
@microwavenby As it should!!
@kristiedegaris I bought a demi-baguette at the supermarket here in Dol-de-Bretagne for .35 Euros yesterday. Come to France, land of cheap, good bread and cheese and wine.
@Infoseepage I'm on my way.
@kristiedegaris I was in Dunkeld last year. Didn't have to put up with any snow as I circled the Cairngorms. Almost wish it had, though, as the photos would have been great.
@kristiedegaris
Oh, nearly forgot in the price rant, nice pictures.
You've done that before I suspect 😃
@kristiedegaris
£9?
I sincerely hope it was the best baguette you have ever eaten!

@kristiedegaris That looks beautiful. Those are not smartphone pics, are they?
@maxheadroom No, they're on the big camera which I cradled like a baby to protect it from the snow. Nikon Z7
