Mark Wyner Won’t Comply :vm:

My analytics for MarkWrites.io show a surge of Windows NT visits. Over the past 24 hours it says 43% of my visitors are using that system.

That can’t be right. I thought maybe it was bots, but I’m not seeing an influx of those. And I have a huge bot blocking list as well.

Any ideas? Has anyone else seen this?

Solved! For anyone who cares…

All Windows operating systems report as Windows NT because they are all built on the Windows NT kernel architecture.

The reason I did not know this is because analytics platforms I previously used only *listed* then as “Windows,” without the “NT.” This new privacy-focused platform includes the “NT.” And because I don’t normally see a lot of Windows traffic, this came as a surprise.

The more you know. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@markwyner 😊 👍 I assumed something like this but I didn't wanted to point out something wrong hence I refrained from answering 😁 Sometimes I know stuff but I'm to shy to utter it… should work on that :D

@nemo totally feel you. That restraint is a good quality. My ADHD brain is out here having me firehose on everything. But I think the communication is good. That’s how community benefits from a hive mind, eh?

@nemo I love this. A lifetime ago I was afraid to speak up about not knowing something. When I learned to favor inquiry over shame, it changed my life. If I don’t know something I’m happy to note that and ask so I can learn.

@markwyner Radical acceptance is the best way to go. Accepting that one doesn't know is not weakness; it is the first step in discovering the terra incognita. Offering help and taking it are both admirable. :D New connections are like new paths that must be used many times before a road becomes visible. Nobody is perfect expect traces of human errors, nobody is perfect expect traces of human errors.

@hyde funny. And probably true. This is why I went hunting for bots. I feel like it has to be bots on old machines.
