Does anyone work in a place where y’all are actually happy with your website and esp. tracking capabilities for clicks, views, journeys across pages?

I keep hearing every company I ever work with even tangentially complain that their site and analytics are bad and that they need to improve, but I’ve never actually seen anyone get to the state of it not being supposedly bad?

Does that even exist or is everyone just lying to themselves?

In today’s prototyping class at @xpub we have been looking at Nginx logs live.

It is CRAZY to see the actual amount of bot connecting to our website and our wiki 😱🤬

I decided not to use any analytics on my website a while ago already, but I am wondering if it exist an Internet traffic measurement tool based exclusively on information from Nginx logs?

I would gladly prefer something simple that stays in the terminal, but I would not mind installing something that can be also publicly accessible (like Grafana).

My analytics for MarkWrites.io show a surge of Windows NT visits. Over the past 24 hours it says 43% of my visitors are using that system.

That can’t be right. I thought maybe it was bots, but I’m not seeing an influx of those. And I have a huge bot blocking list as well.

Any ideas? Has anyone else seen this?

Don't blame politicians for customers' choices. The use of pseudo #AI tools is voluntary.
It is not the fault of politicians that the average user wants to be part of this hype and pretends not to understand that this behavior harms the authors.

Also, take a look at the code of this website. Why didn't they use a local alternative to Google #Analytics or #adsense ? They criticize the ecosystem that they themselves helped to sustain.

I think its actually quite better.

Especially for static sites like mine.

Umami is, lightweight, open-source, and respects privacy (no cookies, no GDPR banners).
And the Hobby edition is free.
