Doing some exploratory reading about #SignpostSessions and #init4eachother
I appreciate this continuing message/theme:
We’re building slowly.
We’re building cooperatively.
We’re building at the speed of trust
Doing some exploratory reading about #SignpostSessions and #init4eachother
I appreciate this continuing message/theme:
We’re building slowly.
We’re building cooperatively.
We’re building at the speed of trust
We are building a library of guidance, but we don't want to own your words.
The Signpost Sessions is calling for submissions on the theme: "Hope is Never Neutral." We are exploring the intersection of hope, identity, privilege, and digital literacy.
We are looking for:
Reflections on the "Labor of Hope."
Critiques of Influencer/Guru culture.
Audio as inclusive archiving.

What are you carrying right now?
We’re beginning a slow, collective practice of seeing — not fixing — the realities shaping this moment.
Chapter 1 of the Signpost Sessions is live.
https://initiativeforliteracy.org/c1p1/
We’re opening a new chapter of InitiatED.
This isn’t a course or a platform. It’s a cooperative community with a single, shared goal. Building community capacity for digital autonomy.
We’re starting with Signpost Sessions—slow, privacy-first community practice for people doing hard work in schools, nonprofits, community orgs, and beyond.
Come when you can. Lurk if you want. Leave when you need to.
We're building a tribe, not just a blog. Trust first. Vulnerability later.
This is how we gather. With clear boundaries, genuine curiosity, and space for complexity.
Read our full community agreements: https://initiativeforliteracy.org/how-we-will-gather/
We can't ask for vulnerability before we've built trust.
The #SignpostSessions are starting with connection, not content. A space where you can be honest about what you're navigating, without having to fix it or perform optimism.
We're starting with trust and connection before asking for anything else. Because communities can't be engineered. They have to evolve.

When the path is unclear, a signpost doesn't scream at you. It just points.
On Monday, we launch the Signpost Sessions—a slow community space to "See, Sense, and Show" our way through the next 6 months.
It's not a course. It's a field note on being human right now.
Join us: https://initiativeforliteracy.org/signpost-sessions-welcome/
We built the Signpost Sessions for people with real lives.
There are no assignments. There is no "falling behind." You can dip in and out as your energy allows.
The Roadmap (Jan–June):
👁️ See: Naming the burnout and struggle.
✨ Sense: Finding the helpers and traditions that sustain us.
👉 Show: Becoming a guide for others.

We don't need heroes. We don't need gurus. We need signposts.
We're launching a slow, asynchronous community to document the people and practices that help us navigate uncertain times. No experts, just honest markers pointing the way.

🔥 WANTED: Live Human Signposts. 🔥
Civil rights historian Vincent Harding called them the people who, in the midst of struggle, helped others find direction.
We're building Signpost Sessions to connect people doing this critical work. Looking for co-facilitators willing to stand in place and point toward what matters.
Details on how to join (Jan-June 2026): https://wiobyrne.com/be-a-live-human-signpost/
When the world feels foggy, the people who help us see clearly aren’t the loudest or the most “expert.”
They’re the quiet signposts.
- the teacher with snacks,
- the librarian with the right book,
- the colleague who texts “you’re not alone.”
We need more of them.
And we can be them.

Hope isn't an individual mindset. It's a collective practice.
That's why we're starting Signpost Sessions—community conversations for educators, organizers, journalists, advocates, and anyone working toward equity.
Who are the people who help you see clearly right now?
We need co-facilitators. Join us.
