Displacement in Gaza… a Wound That Never Heals

From the Nakba of 1948 until today, Palestinians in Gaza have lived through endless cycles of displacement. Families flee with nothing but memories, searching for safety in a land where nowhere is safe.

Children sleep on the ground, mothers cling to their little ones, fathers walk through ruins with only resilience left.

The occupation can destroy homes, but it cannot erase belonging or hope.

This is a mural on a wall by the famous and elusive street artist named Banksy who documents with his work how men women and children are abused by government, powerful companies and companies. This drawing shows an British judge with a white wig, black robs and a gavel raised above his head attacking a young man of color on the ground who has a white placard raised in his left hand trying to shield himself from the blows from above.

En väggmålning av Banksy upptäcktes nyligen på en byggnad som hör till Högsta domstolen i London. Den visar en domare i traditionell peruk som med sin klubba slår en demonstrant med ett blodigt plakat. Konsten täcktes snabbt över med svart plast, metallbarriärer & bevakades under dagen av säkerhetsvakter.

#Norwich on a summer Saturday always has a feel of festivity, indie crafts, protest and naked capitalism.

I usually love the way it’s everything to all people, all at once. And most of the time everyone gets along.

But today I felt sad. I witnessed intolerance.

A band was playing the Cranberries’ Zombie while a woman with Downs Syndrome happily danced in front of an appreciative crowd.

Less than 20 metres away police were arresting a young women for holding a handwritten sign.

The intense ‘everything all at once’ sensation continued as I walked 100 metres further to a #Banksy and #Bitcoin exhibition.

I had come for the Ralph Steadman desk used to create the imagery for Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas…but found myself drawn into a strange conversation about the morality of Bitcoin with a tipsy late middle aged man holding a lager bottle.

I said I was opposed to the huge amount of energy it consumed. Not the answer he wanted to hear. Escaped 15 mins later.
