“ChatGPT tends to access and evaluate content differently than search engines, seemingly prioritizing accuracy, freshness, and relevance over popularity signals like backlinks.
The reality is it’s likely a combination of all three. Fresh content, niche topics, and alternative quality signals all contribute.”
So… #Chatbot search may kill the ‘value’ of traditional #SEO, which indexes a flood of #AISlop hits? 😂

What's the most spam, slop, and scam infested hashtag here?
One of the worst I've seen is #SEO (eww)

I just checked my latest Google Search Console report for Cybercultural. Couple of notable trends, that I think apply to other indie websites too:
1. Google has totally turned off Google Discover traffic for my site over the past 3 months. I never got big traffic from it, but at least my posts had a chance before. I suspect Google's algo has pivoted Discover traffic to larger sites, to keep them quiet.
2. Clicks per impression 0.50% (was 2.25% at peak). This is AI Overviews/Mode at play #SEO
I have a very specific request:
A friend wants to convince their organization to ditch Pinterest.
To help them out, I'm looking for links to information from reliable sources about how its ability to drive traffic has changed in recent years, about accessibility issues, about the malware problems, anything like that which could support their cause.
If anyone has good sources at hand, I'd love your help. Thank you.
(No scolding/mansplaining required.)

There used to be this deal between Google (and other search engines) and the Web: You get to index our stuff, show ads next to them but you link our work. AI Overview and Perplexity and all these systems cancel that deal.
And maybe - for a while - search will also need to die a bit? Make the whole web uncrawlable. Refuse any bots. As an act of resistance to the tech sector as a whole.
You do not need search engines much if you are here.
Someone here probably knows the answer to your query.
