1. Grenouille (frog) 2. Rue de la Grenouillère (frog pond street).
A French street sign reading "Rue de la Grenouillère" with a picture of a frog peeping around from behind the sign.
A brown frog with a great head hunkers down on a stone step near some moss.
Hike this morning, with a fair bit of bushwhacking following new streams and interesting colors. Efts were everywhere.
Let's start with some fungi.
#fungus#mosstodon #mushtodon
Bright yellow almost see-thru golden jelly fungus on a downed branch next to clumps of moss and maybe a bit of lichen.
Cerrena? A very interesting texture and coloring with a little green “forest” of fuzz on top of the fungus while underneath is a frilly/textured white.
Newly emerged button mushrooms out of side of rotting log. Maybe an alder scalycap?
Violet toothed polypore. A striped light tan mushroom on side of old tree trunk that turns to violet on the edges and then a lighter, almost white outline.
Next up: frogs, flowers, and ferns. The two frogs I saw in lake didn't look totally reconstituted yet. Ferns are still popping out of ground and unwinding, and there's a lot more flowers now.
#frog #ferns #bloomscrolling
Jack-in-the-pulpit, a plant with a tall vase like flower that is vertically striped
Fern bundle not yet unwound, which I see a little happy face in
iNat says Ginseng, which I had no idea was around here if that is try. Three stems with leaves on them and a bundle of white blossoms in the middle
frog next to a boulder on edge of lake looking a bit dark and cold, wasn’t in a real hurry to move even with me hovering nearby taking photos
