@MarkBrigham asks:

Maybe your old bike was new when you bought it; or maybe you collected a vintage bike because they don’t make ‘em like that anymore.

Is it your “Tweed Ride”, or everyday ride. Whatever the case, show us your antique (pre-1975) bicycle. Pics, year of manufacture, year you acquired, gearing, etc.

Q7. Aside from weight and efficiency, is it the best bike in your stable?

@MarkBrigham @bikenite A7. I don't think we have a pre-1975 bike! Oldest is maybe a 1980s? Early 1990s Bob Jackson bike. It'd since been refurbed and converted to a fixed-gear bike.

It's fun to ride, and very different because it's fixed gear. It's also slightly too small for me (and slightly too large for my partner) so it feels slightly uncomfortable to ride.. but I think I'd get used to it if I rode it more often.

@ascentale @bikenite Yeah, we had quite a discussion on this earlier today. Apparently folks are following #BikeNitePQ to get a head start. I'm excited to see who else is ridin' a #Vintage or #antique #bicycle, occasionally or regularly.

Since it was my question, I'll post two antique steeds in my stable.

First up: 1961 Raleigh Sports, bog standard, with the most perfectly broken-in Brooks B-72 on the planet.

I love it. Show me yours!

A bicycle posing, resting on its kickstand. It's a black Raleigh Sports 3-speed with mud guards, a reed basket hangs from the handlebars. Crappy, mismatched rubber handles adorn the handlebars. A herringbone tweed saddle bag hangs from the leather saddle. The rear mudguard has the classic english bike white paint at the rear of the mudguard. It's on a sidewalk, green grass behind. In the background, vintage signs adorn the side of a building.
