Around here, there have been two severe cyclist:driver collisions after dark along a particularly noxious reach of stroad recently.

Lots of soc media chatter, and >90% heavily in the victim blame camp.

Q7. How is this possible when "bright" winter garments don't really exist?

I've been suffering from leg and back pain for more than a month now and I'm wondering if getting a bike fit might help.

(Four months ago I got a new bike, and then swapped out the handlebars... could that be the cause? I have no idea.)

I definitely prefer bicycle equipment that is highly reliable and requires little maintenance. And over the years of using a belt drive + Alfine 11 internal gear hub, I've accumulated a backup wheel so a mechanical problem doesn't prevent me from riding.

Overall, I reckon I've saved 100-200 hours of chain cleaning and maintenance, which has meant more time out on the road.
