There are no parts such as a seat, crank, handle bars, &c. The fork is barely sticking into the headset and one leg is cut off. Behind the fork, resting against a wall is a small part of one of the missing stays. The other leg of the fork is bent on the end. The frame sits on a weathered wood walkway and it leans against a weathered wood plank wall.

First commute of the New Year!

I chose my #bicycle, even if it was only 37°'F/3°C - excited that both my road bike (frame repair) and the cycle path (Tropical Storm Chantal) are up and running again.

Celebrations were short-lived, as the bridge across Booker Creek is still out with no detour, forcing me to walk along the ditch of a 6-lane highway.

All things considered, a pleasant start to the New Year!

Have you seen the EFF 35 year anniversary cityscape design?

It's got tons of trees, it's got rail, it's got solar panels and a windmill, it's got a rooftop greenhouse and a fountain. It's got a flying bicycle!

What's it not got? Any cars!

It's amazing!

And you can get it on a T-shirt now, if you support EFF's important work against the fascist takeover.

I just wish @eff would add some info on how their clothing is produced.

So, I asked my in-laws not to get me anything for Christmas. I'm lucky to have enough stuff already, and I didn't want to put them to any trouble hunting around for the kind of obscure things I'm into. Not only did they respect my wishes, but I also received an e-card telling me they'd donated to The Bike Project. The charity collects secondhand bikes, refurbishes them and gives them to refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK. Result! https://thebikeproject.co.uk #biketooter #cycling #bicycle

Found a cheap fixie tossed out on the curbside, while taking a walk. Brought it home, gave it a quick tune up.

It had forward facing turned up bars, that kinda looked like cow horns.

Since the frame was plain black, I used a white paint pen to draw a cow's face logo on the head tube.

Then wrote "moo." on each side of the top tube.

Used it a few months, then put it back out on the curb for someone else to enjoy.

Went to an event at the Houses of Parliament tonight. And was unable to get my folded #Brompton #bicycle to fit through the X-ray machine, so had to go home.
Kind of nuts. They said that the new ones don't fit. Not hte ridiculous over-sized G-line bikes. The "original" C-line. Clearly these two have undergone a bit of size creep…

As well as World Bicycle relief, many charities in Europe also support, by collecting, repairing and donating machines that their owners no longer us, including the excellent Just cycle in the Scottish Borders who provide affordable bikes to local people as well as sending them overseas where they are needed.

I'm usually no #fiction reader, you'll only see me a read one #novel every few years.

But @ploum's #scifi novel #Bikepunk - Les croniques du flash was a great read: A beautiful homage to the #bicycle and low-tech more generally, embedded in a post-apocalyptic storyline that is deeply human, surprisingly feminist and non-ableist, and just a real treat for your imagination.

I kind of left it with the feeling that the world the author has created deserves a tome 2 😊
