It is designed to remain invisible to those who benefit from it, while constantly policing, defining, and constraining those who don’t.
Whiteness, particularly among “good white people,” has mastered the art of self-erasure.
It hides behind niceness, intentions, tone, logic, and civility, all the tools that make it possible to maintain dominance without having to admit it.
But denial doesn’t neutralize harm.
It deepens it.
