This is why binaries fail us all because this is definitely a “yes, and…” situation.

TRUTH:

The biggest problem that dudes, who benefit at the highest levels of systems, institutions, and policies rooted in the myth of white supremacy and patriarchy, have is the fact that women, in increasing numbers and across demographics, have in common is that we are no longer “buying the fairytale.”

IMO white urgency is pure panic. That fear of “am I next?”, “will it be my family??”. The same fight or flight fear that gets a fast response but zero ability to sustain. I am reading and reading so I can learn how to be reliable. Seeking out black owned businesses. Donating to Jasmine’s campaign. Actively combatting the myth a black woman can’t win in Tx. She can! White folx, you do not need a consistent, demonstrated antiracist practice as a favor to Black and brown folx.

You need it to save yourselves from systems, institutions, and policies that treat you not as human beings, but as expendable bodies to be consumed by the most powerful and depraved among you.

The myth of white male supremacy depends on white men believing they should never feel challenged, never feel uncertain, never feel questioned. It depends on you interpreting friction as an attack instead of an opportunity.

But life beyond the supremacy myth?
That life requires the exact opposite.

You are simply repositioning yourself for continued dominance.

And anyone running to embrace her, or worse, demanding others do, is signaling that they are not committed to collective liberation, only to the preservation of whiteness.

Because collective liberation requires more than emotional displays.
It requires material change.

Anything less is performance.

Avoid those who demand reconciliation without repair.
Avoid those who want you to pretend the harm wasn’t intentional.
Avoid those who mistake strategic retreat for growth.
