Judge Menendez asked the lawyer for the #Trump admin whether the surge in #ICE enforcement would end if #Minnesota, Minneapolis & St. Paul changed their #immigration policies to the president's liking. The lawyer said he could not commit to that. [Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.] I think she is trying to ascertain whether the operation is in fact retribution & not about policy.

“What do I do with that?” she asked.

Sara Lathrop, a lawyer for the city of #Minneapolis, tells a federal judge that an order blocking the #Trump admin’s #immigration enforcement surge is needed because the operation is “so unprecedented, so intense, & it has created such an environment of fear.” Lathrop said the events of the weekend, when federal agents shot #AlexPretti in the back while he was restrained, demonstrated that the “situation is absolutely untenable.”
