@Sascha Kommt!
I co-host the Italian space podcast AstronautiCAST. On our YouTube channel we post beautiful timelapses and videos Riccardo Rossi makes from public domain NASA images and other media sources with liberal licenses (Riccardo pays a lot of attention to this).
For the past few months we've been seening a sharp increase in bogus YouTube copyright claims, from one every several weeks to a few every week or two. Riccardo disputes all the claims and 100% of them are released by YouTube.
What's going on? Are new AI copyright bots roaming YouTube and issuing lots of claims and false positives?
@artemis I'd say part of the problem is we stopped fighting Nazis.
Anti fascism has to be continuous. Much like the Lernean Hydra they keeps sprouting and one head stays immortal.
Fascism and authoritarianism will always exist.
So the work can never stop.
But fighting fascism, does not have to involve fighting. It does involve finding solidarity with others and help in the ways that you can.
Which can involve something as simple as sharing a meal or giving a spit for folks to rest.
@artemis The fight against fascism starts in our heads.
The work starts for some of us by unlearning what we thought we knew.
I didn't think it was CoW Thomas but thank you for looking into the issue.

If you’re still counting, they have bailed seven men in relation to RAF Fairford and charged nobody with anything.
WHEN is it ok to say "we gotta fight the Nazis"???

@dajb I'm not sure where the line is between having suicidal thoughts and being suicidal
I am not sure if for me it was a real line - or just something I told myself until I couldn't any more.
Some of us struggle more than others.
For all the supposed advantages men have in our society - we suffer a lot of unhappiness and die earlier than women.
For me finding someone to talk to helped, exercise and fresh air help
@sean Glad you found help
@Bluedot_TUE Termin im Kalender steht! :)

@Bredroll in my experience they don’t (or only very rarely) brick anything, but they will eventually stop making fixes
e.g. I have a iMac G4 with Mac OS 9 (that’s 25 years old now), and looking up CD data from the Internet when ripping in iTunes still works fine.
Also have an AirPort Express (from 2012, discontinued 2018) that I can stream AirPlay 2 to no problem.
@thomasfuchs im thinking of devices that need some kind of activation, like get a kindle, reset, register etc, those services wont be around forever.
A one-time 5% wealth tax would bring Silicon Valley's billionaires' wealth back to where it was just 31 days ago
(when it was "just" 178% higher than on January 1, 2023).
They'd rather let 3 million people lose their health insurance than let that happen.

Can't tell if better or much worse

Im writing a story that in part has a subplot where romance has to persist through prompt injection and it literally makes me sick to write imagining this as a basic skill to persist in reality.
It's Caturday. I want out. Let me speak to the manager!
@ifreund @justine On my NetBSD VM, the problem seems to be in Mesa.
Nothing to do with blocking sockets.
What seems to be happening for me is that firefox is requesting a buffer to be displayed via Mesa. When that happens, Mesa does so using a SHM buffer which NetBSD rejects.
It's the same symptom which I've a work around for CoW, and is ultimately being tracked here in NetBSD:
https://mail-index.netbsd.org/netbsd-bugs/2023/09/20/msg079781.html
It doesn't look like kern/57622 has been merged yet.
So I suppose I could patch libmesa with a similar fix in CoW...
But I have some other things to do, and this isn't a problem with CoW, so....
Her human's hands are currently not available to rub her head, so Hester makes do with the unoccupied armchair.
She can be quite insistent about wanting her head rubbed, sometimes digging her claws into my wrist to pull my hand into the correct position, if I don't respond quickly enough to her tapping my wrist with her paw.
@aderieg hello cat
This paper title is 🔥🔥🔥
"Systematic non-compliance of satellite megaconstellations with IAU brightness limits" https://arxiv.org/pdf/2610.10834
Congrats to the Global Meteor Network team on a great paper demonstrating how bad SpaceX and other satellite operators are on following through on their promises to make their satellites fainter.
Groumpf.
@sebsauvage
