I took the opportunity of the move across country to remove all non-stick cookware and black rubber from my kitchen. Starting anew, for the sake of my kid.

Folks in my hometown area along Lake Ontario are having fits on Facebook about Google Maps relabeling the lake. I remind them, “if Google Maps is willing to relabel Lake Ontario to make the government happy, just imagine what they’d do with all that data they’ve grabbed from you to make the government happy”.

Day in, day out, he treated his patients and carried out his medical duties, working through unbearable loss and grief. He bore witness to the devastating toll of Israel's ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Throughout this time, Dr. Abu Safiya, like numerous Palestinian healthcare workers, refused to abandon his patients. He stayed at the hospital until the last second when Israeli forces raided it again and arbitrarily arrested him on 27 December 2024.

Today, Dr. Abu Safiya spent over 600 days behind bars in Israeli detention. He is still being held without charge, separated from his family, his colleagues, and the children he lovingly treated.

Israeli authorities must immediately and unconditionally release Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya and all other arbitrarily detained Palestinians.

I've got a question for the blind folks of Mastodon. When using a keyboard with an iPhone, what command is double tap? I have tried both enter and capslock with space.

There’s a certain … cassandra-esque irony in people getting frustrated with LLMs not “doing what they tell them”, and are now, undestanding-by-fire why domain-specific formal languages were developed in the first place.

If you want to skip straight to the part where the computer does (mostly) exactly what you tell it to do, might I recommend a programming language.
