Couldn't resist letting myself get nerd-sniped back into #emacs. I never fully left anyway.
This time around I'm determined NOT to try to fit my entire computing life into it and (mostly) just use it as an editor.
Anyway, nice to see how far it's come. So many things are usable out of the box now. My `init.el` is less than 70 lines (cosmetics and bindings, some packages), but thanks to project.el, eglot, and completion-preview, you have an IMO pretty decent coding experience right away.
Ils vont être nombreux à prendre cette liane dans les mois à venir.

One of the things that doesn't seem to be respected enough is...
... if you cave to a bully, they come back for more, especially when someone else stands up to them and their ego is hurt.
Caving just makes you a reliable target.

Manton Reece: "I’ve seen some people post about unfollowing Federico or cancelling their Club MacStories memberships. Is that really what we want, to withdraw support from a long-time blogger who has had such a positive impact on the indie Mac and iOS ecosystem?"
Yes. The answer is *yes*.
The people I know who have decent principles (and the spines to stick to them) are not going to lower their standards just because someone is a "long-term blogger". Tenure doesn't offset the harm here.
Trump admin calls for more spaceports to handle surge in launches
"We probably need another site that's capable of heavy and super heavy launch capability."

@arstechnica What about Spaceport America? Can't launch over water, I guess.

I finally had my grandfather's slide rule cuff links made into earrings.
He was an electrical engineer, I am a mechanical engineer. He graduated in 1950, learning engineering with a slide rule, before calculators.
@hipsterelectron
In some ways this is because of the macrokernel design of Linux, a microkernel which had mechanisms for userspace to get timing information or system state into user space could allow user space to seed its own RNG.
@voltagex
That's crazy.
@lowqualityfacts it’s always raining somewhere, so that would be a pretty conservative estimate.

FEP-49eb: Batched Inbox Delivery
I've wanted batched inboxes for a while, and so here's a FEP for how you might do that.
My big problems with this currently are:
- The `object` of the `Add` is a `Collection`, which would usually mean to add the collection obviously, but here we add the collection's items. It's like this because we need to add some metadata such as start time and ordering, and we can't edit the activities themselves because then the proofs fail when those extra properties are removed when forwarding to other servers. Further, editing the activities might lead to conflicts, and using a prefixed prop like 'fep-49eb:ordering` just leaks that batching was used if forwarding was to happen without removal
- The capability discovery here is annoying I think. I didn't want to add a new `batched` inbox property on actors because then it's completely incompatible with multibox, and I want multibox to remain optional here too.
