Tonight's Low Quality Ad is for this Duck Soy Sauce Container. Very fitting, considering that soy sauce is just fermented duck sauce.

Interesting, Firefox and Waterfox will use the same autofill username/password on subdomains of a domain... that seems ripe for abuse, somehow (particularly for third party services which give users a subdomain, as many do, for payment forms, login pages, etc. etc.). #cybersecurity
Trump will not be attending his son’s wedding because:
“I have a thing called Iran, and other things.”
@gleick
I wonder did he attend juniors first wedding?
@Kels_316 Mr Kels, would you continue your current contract for double the money?
@jpm for double the money I would.

Learning caricature to help break away from references and branch into stylization and drawing from imagination. VERY HARD! My second try with David Tennant in Procreate. Got looser and more stylized as I went along.

As the supply crisis approaches, the clock in the oil market has begun to reach its critical moments. The oil market is likely to have only about three months before the supply decline crisis begins to seriously worsen.
@MeerderWoerter Definitely. We have a strong belief in the lone "complicated hero" meting out "justice" in the form of furious violence. It's our most enduring story as a culture.

In other news that has me emotional 😭 I'm so honored to be part of this group and to be working alongside this amazing group of consultants. I truly believe this is the start of something great.

We just make a lotta movies that at the end of the day, argue the Nazis are right about stuff.
And all of us like movies, so I'm not really calling you a nazi - I'm just saying Nazis weren't turning out for 300 because they liked Greek history.
@AnarchoNinaWrites They're also hyperindividualistic
@Shadowfetch Great analogy.
@tchambers It really is. Explaining technical debt to clients is always a nightmare, but that comparison perfectly captures why we can't just "add one more quick feature" to an old codebase.
@saraemilyburke @yoginho finally, I agree that we don’t want to think of reasoning as a process that takes place only in human language, but conversely, there are definitely forms of reasoning (like logical reasoning) that I don’t think can be made sense of as operating ‘without a language’
@UlrikeHahn Yes, I know the specific post I replied to was not the main topic of your thread. I just don't think the massive gulf in capacity between biological minds and LLMs is a figment of magical thinking.
As for logic, maybe because it operates at the level of abstractions that can be thought of as inherently symbolic it necessarily reduces to a kind of language -- but not the kind of language LLMs are trained on anyway. It certainly does not make sense to learn formal logic statistically.
me: they do not need to be trained as logisticians, they need to be trained how to logistically support the new system
them: no, they are not system users
me: they are an internal user class
them: [x] says they are not
me: [x] page 146, table row 7 says they are internal users requiring 'access and manage' capabilities
them: huh..... But they don't need to be trained to be logisticians just how to logistically support the system
