I have meetings today, so I need a professional T-shirt.
Our collective faith in each others' creativity cannot be cultivated alone. Last weekend in-between apartment-hunting, I bicycled from Boston to Providence, imagining the journey taken by Roger Williams in the winter of 1636.
And I thought of the indigenous peoples who sheltered & protected him.
Williams was banished for advocating for indigenous land rights & religious freedom. His Wampanoag & Narragansett hosts sheltered him & helped him establish a city where rights were written into the code. We need more of that hospitality, courage, and creativity.
Over on the disinformation platform, its owner Elon Musk claims “Hitler was a socialist, therefore all socialists are Hitler”.
This post got 111 million views and apart from his claim being factually incorrect, it also shows that politicians of the remaining free countries should not support his social medium by posting there, because it is not about promoting free and informed dialogue — it is about spreading false myths using an algorithm design by Elon Musk to benefit Elon Musk.
Socialists are what Hitler could have been if he'd got into art school. 🤔 😆
If somebody can claim they made Ai art by typing in a prompt then I can claim I made amazing Indian food by ordering it on an app.
@SRLevine I assume it's the air compressor part that's the noisiest? I have never seen one, seems like there are membrane-based approaches and pressure-swing adsorption---not sure on the noise difference between them if any.
@kirk I'm not sure, it might have to do with the size of the air compressor? Though even small ones are pretty noisy.
Gave my son his first serious gift a few days ago.
A @protonprivacy "Born Private" activation code.
While most people are creating Gmail accounts for their newborns, I decided to start him off with actual privacy from day one.
A bit dramatic? Maybe. But in 15–20 years when he asks "Dad, why doesn’t my email spy on me?" — I'll just smile and say "You’re welcome".
Sometimes the best gifts are the ones they’ll only appreciate much later.

Subconsciously, or many even consciously a person or entity that holds a large amount of wealth will be wary of creating stable well-paying jobs because that distributes the power that the wealth represents.
That army of people may decide that they want to have a say in how things are run.
But not spending the money, not hiring people means that it's eaten by inflation.
The dream is a way to invest without creating a big middle class.
This is why so much money appears for AI.
"I really don't think life is about the I-could-have-beens.... Life is only about the I-tried-to-do. I don't mind the failure, but I can't imagine that I'd forgive myself if I didn't try."

YouTube recommendations of popular videos have basically 100% clickbait titles and no descriptions. I understand what's the incentive for that, you want people to watch the video so you get the ad revenue. But it reached the point where recommendations are basically useless. Who has the time to click on what are effectively random videos just to check what the content actually is?
@gabrielesvelto bots
ran across this site to share `gaussian splats` pretty impressive to see these loading in a browser...

wow the tech behind it is open source too https://github.com/playcanvas/splat-transform
I think the young people boo'ing AI at that commencement speech illustrates this perfectly.
College grads should be excited to work for companies but they have been told over and over that they don't matter, aren't needed, and if they want to "win" in the economy start gambling and get inside tips. Or find a way to exploit your peers. Anything else is baby stuff and woke.
It sucks!

Pizza Hut's AI system caused 'cascading' problems and $100M in damages, franchisee alleges in new suit
https://www.businessinsider.com/pizza-hut-ai-system-dragontail-lawsuit-franchisee-2026-5
> A top Pizza Hut franchisee says the chain's rollout of an AI-powered delivery system turned once-speedy pizza orders into a cold, late-arriving mess — and cratered a business that had been outperforming nearly every other operator in the system.
@rysiek Isn't this funny. Some corporate suit went all in with Ai to save hundreds of millions and instead of this idiot getting fired without any bonuses, they'll just fire 5000 people to compensate for the fuckup. And the idiot who pushed this, even if he leaves the company, he's leaving it with a bonus. Fuck up and even be rewarded for it. It's totally fucked way of doing business.
HOW did I not know this was the KLF?!
@TheBreadmonkey This one was played at my wedding.
When possible, use archive.org
archive.today also owns the urls:

Archive.today has begun rolling out Google's reCaptcha as well, which is concerning when it can be altered.
I do not have evidence, but I can see how this could possibly be a malware vector in the future.
Digital sovereignty is gaining momentum in Germany & Europe 🇪🇺
@republica in Berlin, Katja Mast discussed Europe’s digital future with @Tutanota alongside @ecosia and @jospoortvliet from @nextcloud
We made one message clear:
Europe must reduce dependence on non-European tech infrastructure. Now we need political support, public awareness & procurement that backs European solutions.
Together we can shape the internet of the future!🚀
@Tutanota @republica @ecosia @jospoortvliet @nextcloud
so crazy to come up with such an idea
there is a need for an open minded global internet for the world
an internet that actually brings people to a higher level
not to the level of animals like trump netanyahu putin and alikes
@Em0nM4stodon the blooms of the flowers and the fresh berries and stone fruit 🍑
@vantablack Not to be confused with CybreMonday, which was (by default) the preeminent fediverse self-published academic journal/zine.

Apple has restocked the popular Hikawa Phone Grip & Stand for iPhone.
Now available worldwide for the first time, thanks to a collaboration with PopSockets, priced at $54.95.
Apple has not detailed inventory levels, so it may sell out again like it did at its original launch.
