No one ever had to yell “adapt or die” to get me to use any other bit of technology in my life.
When people are disconnected from the internet, it can impact everything — access to essential info, how they receive medical care, or communication with loved ones. Whether it’s from the government or natural disasters, you can prep in advance to limit the impact of such shutdowns. 🧵 (1/9)

Since companies are putting staff on performance review if they don't use enough AI tokens, let's see how it's doing...
@tommorris I'm putting myself under review immediately.

Nscale, the UK AI infrastructure startup backed by Nvidia, has secured 790M USD in debt financing to develop an AI data centre in Narvik, Norway. Microsoft will rent Nvidia chips at the site, which was previously earmarked for OpenAI's Stargate Norway project. Earlier this year Nscale was valued at 14.6B USD following a 2B USD Series C. https://tech.eu/2026/05/11/nscale-snaps-up-major-us-data-centre-site-inks-ai-compute-deal-with-microsoft/ #Tech #Startup #News #AI

Er, cool, I guess.
Are they actually going to start building one in the UK first though? https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2026/mar/09/from-press-release-to-scrap-metal-site-the-essex-supercomputer-thats-still-a-scaffolding-yard
I got my sim rig today... or so I thought. Turns out all the 40x40 extrusions are there but none af the 80x40s (which make up the care frame) 😭
I hope they just forgot something instead of sending something wrong that I need to return 😵💫
In more positive news, my chonky ass fits the bucket seat just fine
@Kristine Something that fits in height wise with the surrounding buildings. I do need to read more about the project but I believe it's primarily office space and that's very unnecessary in this area.
@matt understand. I'm of the opinion that if we want tall buildings like this in Oslo that location would not be the worst for that. But of course, that is under the assumption that we will have tall buildings anywhere

Oh COME ON. It's YOUR THING and you can't even get this right.
@andypiper if you get a moment, try and create a VM in boxes and let me know if it has network access.
I have a open issue because my VMs can't see the outside world on my fresh install
Betavoltaics do capture beta particles for electricity generation. No that common as yet though 😉
@simonzerafa @ai6yr AND THEN THAT RADIATION-BASED ELECTRICITY GETS SENT TO UNSUSPECTING HOSPITALS AND SCHOOLS!!!!
99% of LLMs give the rest a bad name
99 bad apples
@jsit I've never had the opportunity to play it. Which wild should start? The Gamecube one?
@darkghosthunter The only one I’ve ever played is 3 and I loved it

@arstechnica Is there some anxiety going around about disgruntled tech folks?
I can't imagine why with all of us being forced to destroy the world with LLMs or simply go hungry.
¿Qué pasa?, Moldova?
「 Today, 11th May 2026 CERT is releasing a set of six CVEs for serious
security vulnerabilities in dnsmasq. These are all long-standing bugs
which apply to pretty much all non-ancient versions. The CVE has been
pre-disclosed to vendors, so hopefully they will be releasing patched
versions of their dnsmasq packages in a timely manner 」

@ai6yr DID YOU KNOW THAT SOLAR PANELS CAPTURE RADIATION???! No one talks about this.
