In addition to the dangerous heat in DC over (heat index predicted over 105) the next two days, smoke from Canadian wildfires is drifting into the region. It will be brutal, especially for vulnerable populations and those with respiratory problems.
Drink plenty of water, stay in AC or at the very least shade, and have an n95 mask handy if you must venture out.
@mattblaze in Toronto, and wearing a KN95 outside today. It's also pretty hot, but the wildfire smoke is taking the edge off that (or was, the last time I was outside).

What amuses me about the toothpaste tube analogy is it implies that the tech bros have done something novel. Predictive algorithms date back to the beginning of computing. All they did is feed those algorithms all the content they could steal, crank up the power to a level so inefficient the guys rolling coal through town in their jacked up trucks are getting jealous; then turn the marketing machine up to 11.
No toothpaste, no tube, just a badly designed machine that we can shut off.

I was at PravConf last week, I traveled like more than 100 hours in total for this (almost whole India). It was amazing.
- Clicked awesome pictures with @ravi
- gave talks,
- talked with lots of new people
- helped in organizing the conference
- cut stickers (some of them were not even used 
)
- ran a workshop on hosting a xmpp server on raspberry pi along with @badrihippo 
- showed cool android apps to folks
- flexed my keyboard ( it is invisible 
)
- showcased my keitai (flip phone)
- acquired transparent umbrella
- solo traveled to kanniyakumari 
- Had random fun with @contrapunctus @libreinator, Vishnu, Abhijeet, kannan, Ranjith, Ganesh, Nik 
- had amazing south indian food
- made friends 
- ate home made food (I felt so happy at that time)
- learnt so many new things
“I was happy" 
I could go on and on, so let's stop here, but I would like to thank everyone who made me feel so welcomed there, especially @athulvis for just being there at every point and the food was awesome

For one thing, I don't want to hear a peep about an open source project unless you KNOW it's run by someone who isn't toxic. Because you've already checked for a code of conduct and the lack of a CLA, and you've perused through some of the author's interactions with others.

There is an extreme weather alert for this afternoon.
The current temperature is 38°C, and record-breaking winds of up to 160 km/h and potentially destructive hail are expected later today.
I'm going to cram all my outdoor activities into the next two hours, and then lock myself inside the oven I call home.
@stefano here in Hermosillo, Sonora, México, in the summer we usually have extreme weather just like the one you had; 38-44 celsius average and really violent storms every other day; yesterday we had a dust storm followed by 1 hour of rain :P
